Sons and Daughters (1982 - 87)
An immensely popular soap opera series from the mind of Reg "Neighbours and Prisoner" Watson by Grundy
for the Seven Network. An innovative series, perhaps, in that the two families featured (the Hamiltons
and Palmers) lived in two separate cities (Sydney and Melbourne respectively - quite an uncommon
arrangement for most soapies!)
- they were separated by geography, yet somehow they were inextricably linked. The show that made a household name out of Rowena "Pat-the-rat" Wallace.

Tonight with Bert Newton
| In 1984, Bert Newton had a go at hosting his own four-nights weekly variety show for the Nine Network
- it didn't last very long, finding his element, perhaps in shows such as New
Faces and Good Morning Australia.
