Australia's Naughtiest Home Videos

In 1992, a one-off special with a concept similar to that of Australia's Funniest Home Video Show was screened. It was hosted by Doug Mulray and went on air on Thursday 4 September at 8:30 pm on the Nine Network. ...Naughtiest Home Videos was an "adult" version of the flagship programme, screening home videos that would have never been approved for screening in a family timeslot. Videos screened notoriously included depictions of animals engaging in intercourse.

But, about 20 minutes into the 90 minute programme Channel Nine chief Kerry Packer phoned up the station control centre and ordered them to immediately pull it off the air! Saying to the operator on the other end of the line "Get that S**t Off The AIr!". This was, understandably, an absolute farce, as a show had been pulled mid-air by the complaints of one man - even more farcical was the fact that if the content of the programme had been considered by the powers-that-be to be too controversial and in bad-taste it would have never been aired in the first place. Nevertheless though it was a memorable experience for all viewers. The rest of the show's timeslot was taken up by Cheers repeats. Except in Perth where it never went to air due to teh tiem difference.

Roadshow Home Video initially expressed interest in releasing this episode, but these plans fell by the wayside and the program has not been seen in complete form since.

In 2008, a full copy of the show had been located by the Nine Network's director of factual television. Nine's Head of Programming, Michael Healy, decided to rebroadcast a truncated version of the show on Thursday 28 August.

The show was introduced by Bert Newton, and featured what had originally been aired (including the "technical difficulties" message which followed the initial airing), in addition to twenty minutes of material that had not been broadcast.
