| Panasonic M7 Color Camera

What better camera to start off with than James' first ever camera that was purchased in 1989.
It uses CCD technology instead of a
camera tube. It also incorporates the recording part into the actual camera body to record
onto VHS tape.
Because of the CCD imaging technology the camera still works just as well today
without any smears, burn-ins etc. in the picture, unlike a tube-based camera system. Take a look at
this ad
for the National VHS Movie Camera, an earlier model.

| National WV-3085 B&W Vidicon Camera and Portapack

This camera would have been available around the mid 1970s. It uses the reel to reel
format for recording onto in black and white. As with most cameras of the time it uses
a black and white Vidicon tube for image pickup. Annoyingly this leads to excessive image
lag and excessive burn and as a result can take a while to recover. Remarkably this camera and
recorder are still in excellent working condition.

| National WV-3030N Color Camera

From the late 70s to early 80s, this is likely to be one if not the first of the colour
cameras in Australia made by National. An interesting design with the microphone located
in the handgrip! The camera also featured adjustable red and blue tint controls on the
side of the case. This camera still works today although the tube is really in need of
replacement.
