STV8 Mildura [Discuss]

STV8 Mildura was a commercial television broadcaster, with services covering the rural city of Mildura in Victoria and surrounding districts. Initially owned by Elliot Newspapers, then by Swan Television (owners of STW9 Perth) it became a part of the Eight Network before joining the Six Network in 1990.

Sunraysia Television started out in Sunraysia, the area around and including Mildura. It operated a single TV licence, known as STV-8. In the 1980's it was purchased by Ms Presser. After the colapse of previous owner, Bond Media, STW-9 was sold to Sunraysia Television (then largely owned by Eva Presser). Ms Presser simultanously sold STV-8 to Southern Cross Broadcasting. Sunraysia Television no longer had any assets in Sunraysia. Eva's husband Dan runs the Sunraysia Natural Beverages company, which similarly has no ties to the Sunraysia region. The Pressers use the term as their personal brand name. Which is somewhat ironic as the name is derived from a 1920's dried fruit advertising campaign, for the ADFA - an entity with no connections to the Pressers.
