WIN South Australia [Discuss]

WIN South Australia is a regional commercial television broadcaster, with services covering the Riverland and south-eastern regions of South Australia. It is one of only three remaining solus commercial broadcasters in Australia (the other being Southern Cross GTS/BKN servicing the Spencer Gulf, SA and Broken Hill, NSW regions and MTN9 Griffith). WIN SA is owned and operated by WIN Television and maintains broadcast centres in Mount Gambier and Loxton.

WIN SA was formed in 1999, following the purchase of both RTS5a in Loxton and SES8 in Mount Gambier by WIN Television - WIN SA's flagship analogue services still operate on the above channels in their respective areas, screening predominantly Nine Network programmes, supplemented with the occasional sporting event from the Seven Network.

In 2003, WIN SA applied for a second commercial broadcasting licence (granted under the conditions set in Section 38a of the Broadcasting Services Act 1992) and in 2004 a new service known as WIN Ten (screening Network Ten programmes) commenced. At the same time, digital services also commenced, screening the flagship service and WIN Ten in standard-definition digital format.

In September 2007, WIN South Australia entered into a new affiliation agreement with the Seven Network, as part of a disagreement with PBL Media over the affiliation payment for Nine's programming.
