WIN Western Australia [Discuss]

WIN Western Australia is a remote commercial television service that is licenced to cover all of Western Australia (except the Perth metropolitan area) and the Christmas and Cocos Island external territories, alongside GWN.

WIN Western Australia is owned and operated by WIN Television and transmits primarily via satellite and viewed via self-help transmitter retransmissions to remote communities.

WIN WA possesses a dual affiliation with the Nine Network and Network Ten, adhering to a predominantly Nine-based schedule supplemented by Ten programmes.

Interestingly, WIN WA shares its centre of operations with NEW10's, located in the Perth suburb of Dianella. It is also worth noting that WIN WA exclusively screens news reports of Network Ten origin, unlike the other WIN stations, which screen their own locally-produced news alongside Nine Network news reports.

There are rumours circulating about possible in-fighting between Eva Presser (who owns Sunraysia Television, and in turn, owns STW-9 Perth) and WIN Television, over the ownership of STV-8 Mildura, which may be the reason behind WIN WA basing itself at NEW-10.

WIN acquired its licence to broadcast in 1998 and commenced broadcasting on the 26th of March, 1999.
